Cross Creek and MK Rawlings State Park
Cross Creek is best known for once being the home of author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. She wrote many of her stories while living there, including the Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Yearling. The Yearling was made into the 1946 film of the same name, and her memoir, Cross Creek, was also made into the 1983 film. At Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park, you can walk back in time to the 1930's farm life where she lived and worked. Her cracker style home and farm has been restored and is preserved.
